Thatch is a layer of dead grass cuttings, dried leaves and other organic debris that is left on the lawn. When there is more debris than is able to be broken down and decompose naturally we are left with a layer that we call thatch.

Scarification is the process of removing thatch and moss from your Warrington lawn. We can put up with a certain level of thatch within or lawns but too much will not be beneficial. Thatch will form a barrier between the soil and air surface, blocking the flow of air, moisture and even nutrients into the soil where it is required by the grass roots.
